STRUCTURE

BAWP is an expert association uniting various specialists in the wine industry such as technicians, traders and exporters, journalists, sommeliers, tour operators and wine guides, educators, lawyers and marketing professionals. The following working groups have been set up for the implementation of BAWP’s mission:

MAIN GOALS BY WORKING GROUPS

  • Protecting Bulgarian wine as an authentic product with a high added value
  • Protecting and developing Bulgarian wine regions
  • Developing regulation towards decentralisation, strengthening of interprofessional control and importance of trade organisations, producer groups, experts and other organisations across the sector
  • Lobbying for and protecting the interests of Bulgarian producers at EU level
  • Strategic planning in the sector
  • Creating and maintaining a register / list of specialists in viticulture and winemaking
  • Creating and maintaining a register / list of schools and universities specialising in viticulture and winemaking
  • Creating four regional substructures to facilitate relationships within the industry
  • Creating regional maps with up-to-date information about the state of viticulture and wine production
  • Creating education modules:
    • Recognition of Bulgarian and local varieties
    • Regions and wineries – regional wines
    • Winery visits and meetings with oenologists
  • Creating target groups by regional cities
  • Stimulating the recognition and offering of Bulgarian wines in wine cellars, hotels, restaurants and shops
  • Mutual assistance, integration through education and exchange of experience with other professional organisations
  • Creating a brand / unified concept for Bulgarian wine tourism
  • Improving the recognition of Bulgaria as a destination for wine tourism
  • Stimulating domestic wine tourism
  • Improving and coordinating relations and collaboration between wine traders in Bulgaria and abroad
  • Increasing the recognition and success of Bulgarian wines on the domestic and international markets
  • Organising various events to promote Bulgarian wine in Bulgaria and in key foreign markets
  • Building a successful set-up for a national stand ‘Bulgarian wine’ and developing and implementing a strategy for an excellent and effective presentation of Bulgaria at international wine exhibitions of all sizes
  • A systematic marketing analysis of the state of the Bulgarian wine industry
  • Laying the groundwork for marketing and brand positioning of distinct wine regions and promoting regionally specific wines
  • Establishing a structure in the form of a public-private partnership responsible for the brand and market presentation of Bulgarian wines and Bulgarian wine regions (working title ‘Institute for Bulgarian wine marketing’)
  • Creating a long-term national brand strategy for Bulgarian wine
